Nepal joins the global community today in celebrating World Environment Day with a focus on protecting the country’s precious land and its future. Themed “Our Land Our Future,” the day is marked by tree-planting initiatives and educational programs across the nation.

Held annually on June 5th since 1973, World Environment Day is a call to action from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to raise awareness of pressing environmental issues.

In Nepal, government bodies and various organizations are spearheading tree-planting drives in different parts of the country. This year’s theme underscores the importance of sustainable land management practices for a healthy future.

The day will also see educational programs addressing the challenges posed by climate change and exploring potential solutions. These programs aim to empower communities with knowledge and inspire action to protect Nepal’s unique environment.
