Nepal has been placed in a challenging group A for the upcoming SAFF U20 Championship being held at home. The draw, announced by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) on Saturday, placed Nepal in Group A alongside Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Group B consists of Maldives, Bhutan, and India. The championship will be held in Nepal from August 16 to 28.
In the previous edition (2023), Nepal fell short in the semi-finals against India. Historically, India has dominated the competition, winning 3 titles out of five, while Nepal has secured 2 victories. Nepal claimed the championship title in the first two editions (2015 and 2017), whereas India achieved a hat-trick of wins from 2019 to 2021.
