Free Bus Service on Vijayadashami

Kathmandu, Nepal โ€“ To alleviate transportation challenges on Vijayadashami, Nepal Police has provided a free bus service within the Kathmandu Valley. The initiative aims to assist citizens in their daily commute, especially given the limited availability of public transportation on this significant festival day.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki, the Central Police Spokesperson, announced that two buses would operate free of charge throughout the day, traveling both within and outside the Ring Road. This service is expected to provide much-needed relief to residents who rely on public transport for their daily activities.

“On Tika day, public transport services are significantly reduced, leading to difficulties in movement for people who need to attend Tika ceremonies or handle other essential tasks,” Karki explained. “To address this issue, we have implemented this free bus service.”

One of the buses will begin its journey from the Police Headquarters in Naxal and pass through Baluwatar, Teaching, Chakrapath, New Bus Park, Balaju, Swayambhu, Kalanki, Balkhu, Satdobato, Lagankhel, Jawalakhel, Thapathali, Maitighar, Putlisadak, and Jayanepal Hall before returning to Naxal.

The second bus will also depart from Naxal and follow a different route, passing through Ratopul, Gaushala, Airport, Koteshwar, Thimi, Sallaghari, Suryabinayak, Chabhil, Sukedhara, Chakrapath, Teaching, Baluwatar, and then returning to the Police Headquarters.
