Al Amerat, Oman – Nepal’s cricket team continued its winning streak in the 2024 ACC Men’s Premier Cup with a resounding eight-wicket victory over Hong Kong on Monday at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground. The victory marks Nepal’s third consecutive win in the tournament.
Hong Kong, sent in to bat first, struggled against a relentless Nepalese bowling attack. They were all out for a meager 114 runs in just 17.5 overs. Abinash Bohara was the star for Nepal, taking three wickets, while Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi and Dipendra Singh Airee each claimed two. Karan KC also contributed with a wicket.
Nepal’s chase was a display of confident batting. Opener Kushal Bhurtel set the tone with a quickfire 32 off 19 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. Bhurtel and fellow opener Aasif Sheikh (40) established a commanding 70-run partnership. Captain Rohit Paudel (25*) and Sundeep Jora (19*) then calmly steered Nepal to victory in 12.2 overs, finishing with a total of 117.
Anshuman Rath (34) was the top scorer for Hong Kong, but the team lacked the firepower to put up a challenging total.
Nepal’s dominance in the tournament underscores their status as defending champions. Their victories over Malaysia and Qatar earlier in the series further solidify their position as a top contender.
