The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) faced a downturn on Sunday, with the index decreasing by 17.30 points to ultimately close at 2,018.33 points. The market initially opened with a positive trend, starting at 2,035.64 points and even reaching a daily high of 2,040.33 points within the first 45 minutes of trading. However, this upward momentum was short-lived, and the market subsequently experienced a steady decline, briefly dropping to 2,014.56 points. A slight recovery of around four points occurred in the final minutes of trading.
The sensitive index, used to measure the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also reflected this negative trend, falling by 2.51 points. Daily turnover saw an increase compared to Thursday’s figures, reaching Rs 3.20 billion.
Sector-wise, the non-life insurance sector was the sole gainer, adding 13.13 points to its index. Conversely, the manufacturing and processing, and life insurance sectors faced significant losses of 265.91 points and 102.05 points respectively.
