The Nepal Student Union, the student wing of the main opposition party Nepali Congress, escalated their protests against government corruption and irregularities. Demonstrators were detained by police after staging a protest in front of the Singh Darbar South Gate during morning office hours.

The Nepal Student Union’s protests are specifically focused on Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. They demand his resignation due to his alleged involvement in a cooperative funds misappropriation case. This follows previous protests, including an effigy burning on March 18th and demonstrations the following day.

The Nepali Congress echoes these protests, demanding a parliamentary inquiry into Lamichhane’s actions. This highlights growing pressure against the government to address corruption allegations.
