Nepal Telecom Authority Demands TikTok Compliance, Warns Service Providers

The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has demanded that internet service providers explain their continued operation of TikTok despite a government ban. The ban was enacted due to concerns that the platform was being used to incite social unrest.

The NTA has underlined the need to comply with government directives and warned of consequences under the Telecommunications Act of 2053 BS. Actions to fully enforce the ban are underway.

This follows earlier instructions from the NTA to all internet and mobile providers to block TikTok. However, some providers have reportedly defied the order.

The NTA requests that the public report any instances of TikTok availability to [email address removed].

TikTok has indicated a willingness to address the government’s concerns.
