POKHARA, Nepal – Excitement is building in Pokhara as the city prepares for its historic declaration as the tourism capital of Nepal on March 17th. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to attend the landmark event.
Organized by the Gandaki Province government and Pokhara metropolitan city, the festivities will begin with a vibrant cultural rally departing from Basundhara Park. The focal point of the day will be the official announcement ceremony on the picturesque banks of Fewa Lake, Barahighat.
Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of Gandaki Province, Kuman Singh Gurung, is overseeing the preparations for the event. A special tourism capital marker is set to be unveiled, cementing Pokhara’s status as a prime tourist destination.
The main ceremony committee, headed by the Mayor of Pokhara metropolitan city, is working diligently to create a memorable celebration. Key figures, including the Chief Secretary of Gandaki Province, secretaries, representatives from neighboring rural municipalities, and prominent tourism organizations, will be in attendance.
