Nine Nepalese Climbers Receive Grand Welcome After Setting World Records

Kathmandu, Nepal: A grand welcome ceremony was held at Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday to celebrate the remarkable achievements of nine Nepalese climbers who successfully scaled Mount Shishapangma in China and set new world records.

Among the honored climbers were Dawa Yangzum Sherpa, the first Nepalese woman to summit all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters in the world; 18-year-old Nima Rinji Sherpa, who became the youngest person to climb 14 mountains of 8,000 meters; and Nirmal Purja, renowned for his record-breaking speed in climbing the same 14 peaks.

Other notable climbers included Tejan Gurung, the first to summit all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters; Pasang Tendi Sherpa, the first to climb all 14 peaks from Solukhumbu; and Ming Temba Sherpa, who successfully conquered all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters without supplemental oxygen.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from various organizations, including the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, Magar Association, Gurung Association, Sherpa Tourism Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal, and Seven Summit Treks.

To express their admiration and pride, people from different communities gathered at the airport, dressed in traditional attire to represent their cultural heritage.
