The Nepali Congress (NC) Bagmati Province Committee has instructed its parliamentary party to vote against Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel in today’s confidence vote within the Bagmati Province Assembly. This move could jeopardize Jamkattel’s position as Chief Minister.
Under the constitution, a Chief Minister must seek a confidence vote within 30 days if a party within the ruling coalition withdraws support. To remain in power, Jamkattel must secure 56 votes in the 110-member Province Assembly.
