Nepalese cricketers Dipendra Singh Airee and Sandeep Lamichhane have continued to impress in the Global T20 Canada League, despite their team Vancouver Knights facing consecutive defeats.
In their third match against the Montreal Tigers, Vancouver opted to field first after winning the toss. Montreal managed to post a total of 144 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Lamichhane claimed one wicket, conceding 24 runs in his four overs. This brings his tournament tally to four wickets in three matches.
Airee played a crucial role with the bat, remaining unbeaten on 30 off just 15 balls, including three fours and a six. However, Vancouver’s chase fell short as they were bowled out for 134, suffering their third consecutive loss.
The Knights’ losing streak began with a 10-run defeat on Sunday, followed by a 22-run loss to Bangla Tigers Mississauga on Saturday. In both matches, Lamichhane picked up wickets (two against Mississauga) but couldn’t prevent his team from falling short. Airee contributed minimally with the bat in these games.
Vancouver’s campaign got off to a disappointing start with an eight-wicket loss to the Toronto Nationals. Lamichhane claimed one wicket and scored 15 runs, while the team was bowled out for 100 runs.
Despite the individual performances of Airee and Lamichhane, the Vancouver Knights are yet to find their winning formula in the six-team tournament.
