Nepali Film Pioneer CP Lohani Passes Away at 86

Chidambar Prasad Lohani (CP Lohani), the leading actor in Nepal’s groundbreaking privately produced film ‘Maitighar,’ has died at the age of 86. He passed away on Monday at 1:30 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease, according to the Film Artists Association.

Lohani, who was receiving care at Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu, will be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat at 4 pm on Monday. This was announced by Film Artist Association President Mohan Niraula.

In addition to his acting, Lohani was a talented singer and recorded songs for Radio Nepal. His voice was featured in the iconic ‘Maitighar’ and his final recorded work was ‘Punaragman’. He was also known as the husband of Mala Sinha, a renowned actress across Nepali, Hindi, and Bengali cinema. They have one daughter together.
