Beijing, China:– A Nepali medical student, Sanjib Singh, was tragically found deceased in his dormitory at Guangxi Medical University in China on October 17. The 35-year-old from Banke Nepalgunj has been studying medicine in China since around 2019.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, Singh’s body was discovered after his classmates reported his absence from classes for several days. Concerned about his well-being, they alerted authorities, who forced entry into his room and made the heartbreaking discovery.
While the exact cause of death is still under investigation, the embassy official suggested that Singh may have been experiencing mental health challenges. His prolonged academic pursuits combined with family health issues could have contributed to a state of distress.
Singh, who previously completed his MBBS degree in Chongqing, China, had moved to Guangxi to pursue further medical studies. The Nepali Consulate General in Guangzhou is working closely with Singh’s family in Nepal to arrange for the repatriation of his remains.
The process is expected to involve significant logistical and financial considerations.
