The Nepali embassy in Pakistan has issued a safety advisory for Nepalese citizens residing in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and surrounding areas. Following violent attacks last Friday, the embassy recommends that Nepalis remain indoors until the situation normalizes.

Approximately 280 Nepalis live in Bishkek and its vicinity. The embassy emphasizes their current safety but urges them to stay in their residences until tensions subside.

The embassy requests Nepalis in Kyrgyzstan to maintain direct contact with them or the embassy in Islamabad for any assistance. They can be reached via phone (+92512610321 – includes WhatsApp) or email: eonislamabad@mofa.gov.np.

This advisory comes after an attack on a dormitory housing foreign medical students, including those from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. International media reports suggest the situation in Bishkek has returned to normal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nepal has also urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation on social media regarding the situation in Bishkek, which Kyrgyz authorities have confirmed is under control.

While there were injuries sustained in the attack, reports indicate 15 students received medical treatment.
