In a significant development for Nepal’s gaming industry, Gauley, a new “GTA-style” game, has arrived to immerse players in the scenic and cultural landscapes of Nepal.

Created by developer Ashim Shakya, Gauley offers an open-world experience set against a backdrop inspired by Nepal’s hills, cities, and everyday life. With realistic depictions of areas like Kathmandu, players can explore the game in an environment that mirrors their surroundings, presenting a unique departure from mainstream gaming content.

Gauley, currently in Early Access, allows players to explore an “open mode,” with a more narrative-driven “story mode” expected by the end of 2024. The game’s visuals have captured notable Nepali landmarks, such as the Himalayas and bustling urban areas, providing players an authentic sense of the country’s geographic and cultural diversity.

Built on Unreal Engine, Gauley has specific requirements for Windows users, needing at least 16GB RAM and a strong graphics card for optimal gameplay. Priced at $15 on the developer’s itch.io platform, Gauley has also garnered interest among international players, with plans for a full release on Steam by December 2024. This release will mark a milestone, making it accessible to a broader audience beyond Nepal.

As Gauley continues to evolve, it demonstrates the growing potential of Nepal’s gaming scene, merging traditional Nepali elements with modern open-world gameplay that rivals popular global titles like Grand Theft Auto.
