Nepal’s sacred Maha Kumbh Mela, a spectacular religious festival, begins on April 9th at the holy Chatara Dham on the banks of the Sapta Koshi River in the Baraha Kshetra of Sunsari district. The festival, held every 12 years, offers a unique and extraordinary display of faith for pilgrims from around the world.

Nepal has the honor of being the 5th destination for the Kumbh Mela, joining the renowned sites of Haridwar, Allahabad (Prayaga), Nashik, and Ujjain. The festival will run until May 10th.

Significance of the Kumbh Mela:

The Kumbh Mela holds deep spiritual significance, believed to offer devotees the chance to cleanse themselves of past sins and attain spiritual liberation. Pilgrims bathe in the sacred river as part of the rituals.

The Maha Kumbh Mela in Nepal is expected to draw large crowds of religious pilgrims and spiritual seekers from across the country and beyond.
