The Nepalese upper house has unanimously endorsed a bill relating to legislation. The bill was proposed by Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, during a National Assembly (NA) meeting on Friday.
Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat also presented the ‘Secured Transaction Act (first amendment) Bill, 2080 BS’.
Before the bill’s passage, several lawmakers voiced concerns about the ongoing issue of usury and the need to implement laws to protect victims effectively.
The NA will reconvene on February 2nd at 11:01 am.
