Prime Minister KP Oli attended the final match of the SAFF Women’s Championship at Dashrath Stadium on October 31. On the same day, a Nepali vlogger based in Japan posted a video on TikTok suggesting a potential threat to the Prime Minister’s life, which has since attracted significant attention.
The vlogger, identified as 20-year-old Ratan Karki, reportedly traveled to Japan on a student visa. The police’s Cyber Bureau has begun an investigation into Karki, who currently resides in Tokyo.
A Cyber Bureau official told The Ditible that efforts are underway to bring Karki back to Nepal, with steps to register a case, obtain an arrest warrant, and coordinate with Interpol already in progress.
In the video, Karki reportedly said, “You are watching football; I am watching something else. Today, we could kill you. If we form a group outside and surround them, it could happen. If we don’t act today, we may regret it.” The statement appeared to target Prime Minister Oli.
Meanwhile, authorities are also investigating an incident where Kathmandu Mayor Balen’s supporters reportedly shouted slogans against the Prime Minister in the stadium. Among them was Narayan Bista, along with a small group of RSP supporters. Police have identified those involved and are preparing arrest warrants.
