The Nvidia company, developer of graphics cards, has revealed Nvidia Reflex 2, a new technology that will allow applications (mainly video games) to render future frames in advance thanks to its prediction capacity.
The initial announcement took place during CES 2025 (Consumer Electronics Show 2025), an annual event where companies from all over the world meet with the intention of showing their new products and developments.
“In 2020, we launched Nvidia Reflex, an innovative technology that reduces PC latency in the best competitive games by an average of 50%,” explains the official statement on the company’s website. “Reflex does this by synchronizing the work of the CPU and GPU, so the player’s actions are reflected more quickly in the game, providing a competitive advantage in multiplayer games and making single-player titles more responsive.” ”.
The company explained how this technology works: “Reflex 2 can reduce PC latency by up to 75%. “Reflex 2 combines low-latency Reflex mode with a new Frame Warp technology, which further reduces latency by updating the rendered game frame based on the last mouse input just before sending it to the screen.”
In other words, this technology will use your last actions to predict your next movements with the intention of generating the next frames on the screen in advance, which will significantly reduce the latency problems that, for example, high-level players of multiplayer titles face. competitive.
This technology will initially be exclusive to the new GeForce RTX 50 series of graphics cards, although the company promises that they will add support for other RTX cards in the future. The first titles where Reflex 2 will be initially implemented are the competitive shooters Valorant and The Finals. Again, Nvidia assures that they will gradually expand the list of video games that will be able to take advantage of this impressive capability.
