One Drowned, Another Injured in Taplejung

Taplejung: Two separate incidents occurred in the Taplejung district on September 20, One person drowned while swimming, and another was injured during road construction.

A 21-year-old man, Lakpa Sherpa, lost his life after drowning in the Mewa Khola river. Sherpa, an employee at United Mewa Khola Hydropower, was found unresponsive after being rescued from the river. His body was sent to the district hospital for a post-mortem.

A separate incident injured a laborer while working on the Madan Bhandari Lokmarg road. The unidentified laborer, a resident of Chitwan, was struck by a falling stone during construction. The injury resulted in the amputation of his index finger, and he is currently receiving medical treatment at Panchthar Hospital.
