Rain that began this morning in Kathmandu has continued into the afternoon, affecting daily life and causing flight disruptions.
Due to poor visibility, flights from Kathmandu to the Terai region have been adjusted, while most flights to remote areas remain canceled. Although domestic flights from the international airport are affected, international flights are operating normally.
The Department of Water and Meteorology reports that the rain is due to western winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system near West Bengal, India.
Hilly areas will remain partly to mostly cloudy, with partly clear skies expected elsewhere. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may continue in hilly parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and some Terai areas. At present, light rain is falling in parts of the Kathmandu Valley.
