Passenger Bus Accident in Beni: 26 Injured

Twenty-six individuals, including the driver, sustained injuries when a passenger bus, bearing the registration number GA 1 KHA 5655 and departing from Beni for Ghorepani, was involved in an accident in Beni Municipality-6, Jaleshwar. The majority of those injured are women and children.

The accident victims are residents of various municipalities within the district, primarily from Beni Municipality-7, Mangalaghat. They were on their way to Annapurna Rural Municipality-6, Ghorepani/Poon Hill, to visit children who were enjoying their break following the conclusion of school annual examinations and Secondary Education Examinations (SEE). The bus met with the accident at 4 p.m., just five minutes after departing Beni.

According to Kumar Gurung, the Information Officer at the District Police Office, the injured include the bus driver, Adhikar Sapkota from Beni-6, Dambara, and passengers such as Anshu GC (6), Lalmaya Pun (46), Sunita Pun along with her son Dagin Pun (10), Rory Soni Pun (8), Lakshmi Ghimire, Tijal Roka, and Suman Baniyan from Beni-5 (25) along with her son Sugam Khadka (9), among others.

Moreover, Kesharamaya Roka from Tanahun, currently residing in Beni, suffered injuries along with her son Krishal Rana (5) and daughter Kanchan Rana (17). Indevi Phagami (30) and her children Shikhar Phagami (12) and Shivanya Phagami (8) were also injured, alongside Durgadevi Gharti (50), Purnadevi Garbuja (32), her son Diwan Garbuja (8), Soni Jugjali, Naramayan Roka, and her son Samir Roka.

Four of the injured individuals, including Naramayan Roka, Samir Roka, and Shivanya Phagami, have been transferred to Pokhara for further medical treatment, while the remaining are receiving treatment at Beni Hospital. As the process of identifying the injured continues, further details are awaited.
