The Patan High Court will continue its hearing tomorrow in the rape case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane. The case was adjourned today by Judges Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Anju Upreti Dhakal.
Lamichhane is appealing a Kathmandu District Court ruling from January 10, 2024, which sentenced him to eight years in prison, along with a fine of 300,000 rupees and an order to pay 200,000 rupees in compensation to the victim. He is seeking an acquittal from the charges.
The public prosecutor’s office has also filed an appeal, arguing that the District Court’s sentence was too lenient and requesting the maximum penalty for Lamichhane.
