Prime Minister Prachanda to visit Uganda on January 18

Kathmandu, Nepal – January 14, 2024, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is set to embark on an official visit to Uganda to attend the Non-Aligned Nations Conference, scheduled to take place from January 18 to January 21, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Nepali delegation, headed by Prime Minister Prachanda, will comprise Foreign Minister NP Saud, Foreign Secretary Seva Lamsal, the Prime Minister’s daughter Ganga Dahal, and other high-ranking government officials.

During the conference, Prime Minister Prachanda is slated to address a session on January 19, where he will share Nepal’s perspectives on non-alignment and global cooperation. Additionally, he will participate in a dinner hosted by the President of Uganda, which will be attended by the heads of delegations from participating countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has outlined the itinerary, revealing that bilateral meetings are scheduled for Prime Minister Prachanda during the conference, fostering diplomatic ties and collaboration between Nepal and other nations. These meetings are anticipated to cover a range of topics aimed at strengthening international cooperation.

Ahead of the main conference, Foreign Minister NP Saud will arrive in Uganda on January 16 to participate in a ministerial meeting, setting the stage for discussions and collaborations to be addressed during the broader conference.

Upon the completion of the Non-Aligned Nations Conference, Prime Minister Prachanda is expected to return home on January 21. The visit underscores Nepal’s commitment to maintaining a non-aligned stance in global affairs and fostering diplomatic relationships for mutual benefit.

The upcoming conference is seen as a crucial platform for nations to discuss and address global challenges, promote peace, and enhance cooperation, embodying the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement.
