Birgunj: The Armed Police Force (APF) has confiscated a large quantity of electric cigarettes, commonly known as vapes, worth a staggering 17 Lakh 10 thousand 650 rupees. The seizure took place near the main gate of the customs office in Ward 16 of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Debendra Singh from APF No. 13, a team deployed from the proposed border security unit intercepted a vehicle attempting to smuggle the vapes to India. The contraband was cleverly concealed within a branch, creating a false bottom.
The seized vapes, numbering 450, have been handed over to the Birgunj Customs Office for further investigation.
This is not the first such incident in the region. Earlier, Parsa police had successfully seized 76 cartons of electric vapes, amounting to 15,200 individual vapes, with a total estimated value of 5 Crore rupees. The vapes were discovered in a rented room in Birgunj.
These seizures highlight the growing problem of vape smuggling in the region and the efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat this illicit trade.
