After being missing for more than 35 years, Prakash Tamang of Bhojpur has finally received his citizenship certificate. Binod Gyawali, Head of the Dingla Area Administration Office, personally delivered the certificate to Prakash at his home in Shadananda Municipality-10.
The process of granting Prakash citizenship was coordinated by Shadananda Municipality Mayor Surendra Udas, Municipal Executive Officer Mohan Chapagain, and Ward President Prem Doji Sherpa. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also played a crucial role, expressing interest in Prakash’s case and discussing it with the then Home Secretary, Ek Narayan Aryal.
Prakash’s citizenship was made possible due to the Prime Minister’s intervention, along with the coordinated efforts of local officials and the Dingla Area Administration Office.
Prakash, who reconnected with his family after more than three decades through the program ‘Herne Katha,’ is now in the process of rebuilding his life. The first step was obtaining his citizenship certificate, and the next steps included opening a bank account, according to Rajesh Rai, Central Vice President of Press Chautari Nepal, who is assisting Prakash. “We are opening a bank account today,” Rai said. “After that, we are preparing to return to Kathmandu to meet the Prime Minister.”
