Tensions escalated at Nova Hospital in Dhangadhi following the death of a 17-year-old patient. Nasib Chaudhary from Belauri, Kanchanpur, succumbed to his illness on Friday, July 26, despite being admitted to the hospital in stable condition on July 22.
Chaudhary’s family alleged medical negligence and accused the hospital of causing their son’s death. In protest, they vandalized the hospital premises and clashed with the police. To disperse the agitated crowd, police fired three rounds of tear gas.
The situation remains tense as the family has refused to claim the body and is demanding action against the hospital staff. Despite ongoing negotiations between the hospital administration and the bereaved family, no agreement has been reached so far.
The hospital, under pressure, suggested transferring Chaudhary to Nepalgunj or Bareilly, India, only after the situation turned violent. However, the teenager died while being transported to Nepalgunj.
