Paris Saint-Germain completed a thrilling comeback victory against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, securing their place in the semifinals with a 4-1 win in the second leg. Kylian Mbappe’s brace fueled PSG’s dominance, overturning a 3-2 first-leg deficit to win 6-4 on aggregate.
Barcelona struck early with a 12th-minute goal from Rafinha, momentarily extending their aggregate lead. However, Ronald Araujo’s red card in the 29th minute proved costly for Barcelona. Ousmane Dembele equalized for PSG before halftime.
The second half was all PSG. Vitinha put them ahead in the 54th minute, followed by Mbappe’s penalty conversion in the 61st. Mbappe capped off the win with a brilliant 89th-minute goal. Barcelona’s frustrations ran high, leading to coach Xavi also receiving a red card.
In the other quarterfinal, Borussia Dortmund also rallied, defeating Atlético Madrid 4-2 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate. Goals from Julian Brandt, Ian Maatsen, Niclas Fullkrug, and Marcel Sabitzer sealed Dortmund’s victory.
The Champions League semifinals will now feature a high-powered clash between PSG and Dortmund.
