A joint operation by the District Police Office Parsa and the Birgunj Metropolitan City raided the National Medical College in Birgunj. Authorities uncovered a supply of expired medicines, leading to the arrest of Managing Director Shahnawaz Hussain Ansari and lab technician Sanjay Sah.
The raid was conducted by a monitoring team led by Kanhaiya Thakur and Deputy Mayor Imtiyaj Alam. Expired medications dating back to 2021 and 2022 were discovered during the search of the laboratory in Block (A) of the College.
Parsa’s police chief, Kumud Dhungel, confirmed that the raid was initiated based on intelligence reports suggesting expired chemicals were being used for testing within the laboratory. Seized chemicals are now undergoing further investigation.
