Ramechhap: A devastating landslide in Tokarpur, Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality-3, has claimed the lives of six people. The incident occurred on Saturday night, triggered by heavy rainfall.
Among the victims are Chandika Thapa Magar, a 30-year-old teacher, and her 18-month-old son, Aams Thapa Magar. Additionally, the bodies of Urmila Pahari (40), Sandeep Pahari (17), Bigyan Pahari (18), and Santosh Pahari (14) have been recovered.
Ten-year-old Anjana Pahari was miraculously rescued from the rubble. However, four individuals remain missing: Phadke Pahari (75), Kale Pahari (55), Jhyaukiri Pahari (54), and Binda Pahari (23).
The landslide destroyed five houses in the Lekharaka settlement, which is now at high risk of further landslides. Rescue efforts are underway to locate the missing persons and assess the extent of the damage.
Heavy rainfall has also caused significant infrastructure damage in the region, including destroying several bridges and roads.
