Metaphor: ReFantazio will have its manga adaptation

Last year one of the most important video games of the RPG genre was Metaphor: ReFantazio, which managed to attract the attention of many users due to its peculiar game mechanics and the story that is somewhat far from what was presented by Atlus itself with the installments of the Persona saga. And now that it has gained its fame, it wants to bring the experience of the franchise to other media that are also located in the entertainment sector.

The game universe expands beyond consoles with the launch of an official manga adaptation. This project, by artist Yoichi Amano, known for his work on the adaptation of Dragon Quest Treasures, is now available digitally in English through Shueisha’s Manga Plus, while in Japan it is published in the renowned magazine V Jump.

The first chapter stays true to the narrative by portraying the story of the young protagonist, Will. From the initial ambush to his exploration of Royal Capital Grand Trad and the flashbacks that reveal his past, readers will find familiar elements if they have already experienced the game. However, the adaptation is not limited to replicating the plot, as it introduces notable changes, such as the way he meets Strohl, one of the characters most beloved by fans.

These adjustments suggest that the series will not be a simple recreation, but will offer a new perspective on the rich narrative of Metaphor: ReFantazio. The combination of politics, fantasy and character development promises to maintain the essence of the title while exploring new narrative possibilities. Furthermore, it is interesting which path the story will take in certain parts where there are decisions to be made.

With this adaptation, Atlus demonstrates its ability to take its stories beyond the original medium, cementing its legacy in high fantasy. Fans of the game and manga now have a new way to immerse themselves in the intriguing world of this RPG.

Remember that the game is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
