The committee formed to investigate the tragic bus accident in Chitwan’s Simaltal has submitted its findings to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
The report, compiled by a committee chaired by Joint Secretary Chabbi Rijal, details the cause of the accident and recommends measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Home Minister Lekhak has pledged to implement the committee’s recommendations, which will be shared with relevant agencies for action. The minister acknowledged the involvement of multiple parties in addressing the issue of road safety.
The accident occurred on July 12, 2024, when two buses carrying 68 passengers plunged into the Trishuli River due to a landslide. While three passengers managed to survive, 24 bodies have been recovered thus far, with 19 identified. A total of 41 passengers remain missing, and one of the buses is yet to be located.
