A 70-year-old woman, Budi Kami of Banfikot Rural Municipality-3, Rukum has died in a fire that spread from the Bhadnigare community forest to her home. District Police Office West Rukum Chief Nawaraj Pokhrel confirmed the death.
“The community forest fire reached the house, and Ms. Kami tragically died while attempting to retrieve belongings,” reported Pokhrel. She died at the scene, and authorities have taken her body to the district hospital for an autopsy.
The fire also destroyed three additional homes before being brought under control on Sunday evening.
