The appeal of Sandeep Lamichhane, former captain of the Nepali national cricket team, against his rape conviction remains ongoing in the Patan High Court. The case, being heard by a bench of Justice Sudarshan Dev Bhatt and Anju Upreti, was adjourned on Tuesday due to incomplete arguments.

According to Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, the spokesperson of the Patan High Court, a decision may be reached after the conclusion of today’s arguments. The court is simultaneously considering both Lamichhane’s appeal against the district court’s verdict and the public prosecutor’s office’s petition seeking a harsher sentence for Lamichhane.

Lamichhane, found guilty of rape by the Kathmandu District Court and sentenced to eight years imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 300,000, and Rs. 200,000 in compensation, filed his appeal in the High Court on February 22nd.
