The Supreme Court of Nepal has issued a landmark order granting affiliation to Durga Prasai’s B&C Medical College in Birtamode, Jhapa. The ruling, delivered by the bench of Judges Dr. Kumar Chudal and Saranga Subedi, directs the relevant authorities to provide affiliation if all necessary processes are completed.

“The order appears to fully address the demands outlined in the writ petition,” stated Supreme Court spokesperson Bed Prasad Upreti. “This suggests a favorable outcome for the petitioner. Further details will become clear upon receiving the full judgment text.”

This decision resolves a long-standing controversy surrounding the affiliation of the medical college, established by Durga Prasai, a prominent medical practitioner with political ties. Prasai had filed a writ petition with the Supreme Court alleging that he was denied affiliation despite meeting all infrastructure requirements. The petition targeted Kathmandu University, the Medical Education Commission, and other related bodies.
