Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has unveiled his 26-man squad for the upcoming Copa América, blending experience with exciting young talents. Veterans Lionel Messi and Ángel Di María headline the team, which includes 21 players who triumphed at the 2022 World Cup.
Scaloni experimented during the pre-tournament friendlies, giving opportunities to youngsters like Valentín Barco, Ángel Correa, and Leonardo Balerdi. However, they didn’t make the final cut. Conversely, Monza’s Valentín Carboni impressed against Guatemala, earning a call-up and praise from Messi himself.
Argentina’s quest to defend their 2021 Copa América title begins on June 21st against Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. They’ll then face Chile and Peru in Group A.
