The search and rescue operation for victims of the devastating Simaltal landslide, which swept two buses into the Trishuli River, has taken a new turn. Two more bodies of the missing passengers have been recovered on Indian soil.

According to Armed Police Force spokesperson Shailendra Thapa, the bodies were found in the Narayani River in Champaran Nagaha, India, on Thursday evening. While one body has been brought back to Nepal, efforts are underway to retrieve the second.

The tragic incident occurred on July 12 when a massive landslide buried two buses carrying a total of 65 passengers. So far, the bodies of 23 passengers have been recovered. Despite extensive search efforts, the missing buses remain unaccounted for.

Authorities are continuing their search and rescue operation in coordination with Indian counterparts as they navigate the challenging terrain and turbulent waters of the Trishuli River.
