In a tragic incident fueled by a long-standing land dispute, 53-year-old Budhram Mahato of Arnama rural municipality-2 Brahampuri was killed with a spade in Arnama, Siraha.
According to eyewitnesses, Bachai Mahato, a resident, attacked Budhram with a spade when he arrived at the field with a tractor to collect hay on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at 8:20 am, resulting in Budhram’s immediate death.
Bachai Mahato fled the scene and is currently at large. Siraha police spokesperson DSP Muktinath Sapkota confirmed that there had been a prolonged dispute between the deceased and the perpetrator over the farm’s boundary.
Budhram had gone to the farm on Thursday morning accompanied by some local authorities to resolve the dispute, which escalated quickly upon their arrival. Eyewitnesses reported that Bachai threw a spade at Budhram during the altercation, resulting in his death.
The victim’s body has been transported to the Provincial Hospital Siraha for an autopsy. The District Police Office Siraha is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
