A 34-year-old Slovakian tourist, Onrej Husarke, who had been missing for two weeks during a Himalayan trek, was tragically found dead in the Lirung area of Langtang.
The discovery was made during the third aerial search and rescue mission, led by Senior Captain Bibek Khadka. The tourist’s body was located in a 30-meter-deep gorge at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level.
The body has been sent to Kathmandu’s TU Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Czech tourist who accompanied Husarke, Marek Holešek, was contacted last week.
Local authorities are investigating whether the Kathmandu-based trekking company that organized the trip adhered to minimum safety standards.
