Son Dies in Father's Sickle Attack in Lamjung

Lamjung, Nepal: A tragic incident occurred in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-2, Ghanpokhara Probi village of Lamjung, where a son lost his life due to a sickle attack by his father.

According to local police, Santa Bahadur Tamang, 57, fatally struck his 27-year-old son, Som Bahadur Tamang, with a sickle. The altercation reportedly took place on Friday evening around 5-6 PM after both individuals had consumed alcohol and engaged in a heated argument.

Lamjung Police Chief DSP Nishant Srivastava detailed the sequence of events, stating that the argument escalated into physical violence. The son initially punched the father, prompting the latter to grab a nearby sickle and inflict a fatal blow to the son’s neck.

The seriously injured son was immediately rushed to Lamjung Hospital in Benisahar. However, despite receiving medical attention, Som Bahadur Tamang succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning at Bharatpur Government Hospital in Chitwan, where he had been referred for further treatment.

Following the incident, local police authorities arrested Santa Bahadur Tamang and detained him at the district police office. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
