Panchthar: A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when a sixth-grade student drowned in the Khedok River. The victim, identified as 11-year-old Dip Rai, son of Balakrishna Rai, was a resident of Phalelung-5 Khedok.
The young boy was reported missing after leaving home for school around 9 AM. His body was later discovered floating in the river by residents, who immediately alerted the authorities.
District Police Office Panchthar Chief Hemant Bhandari Chhetri confirmed the incident, stating that Rai’s belongings, including his shirt and school bag, were found on the riverbank. The body was transported to Panchthar Hospital for post-mortem examination before being released to the family. An investigation into the drowning is currently underway.
