The Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched a nail-biting 2-run victory over the Punjab Kings in a high-scoring IPL match. Despite a valiant unbeaten 46 from Punjab’s Shashank Singh, they fell just short of Hyderabad’s challenging target of 183, ending their innings on 180/6.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the star bowler for Hyderabad, taking 2 wickets, while Pat Cummins, T Natarajan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Jayadev each claimed one.
Earlier, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s superb all-around performance propelled Hyderabad to 182/9. Reddy scored 64 runs and was later named Player of the Match for taking a wicket. Abdul Samad contributed a quickfire 25. Arshdeep Singh shone for Punjab, taking 4 wickets, supported by Sam Curran and Harshal Patel with two wickets apiece.
This result leaves both Hyderabad and Punjab in the middle of the IPL standings after five games played.
