BJP protests outside Arvind Kejriwal’s residence demanding a probe into the alleged assault of Swati Maliwal by his assistant.

The BJP organized a protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Wednesday, demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged assault of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal by Kejriwal’s assistant, Vibhav Kumar. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at the CM‘s Civil Lines residence.

On Tuesday, AAP MP Sanjay Singh acknowledged the incident, condemning the alleged misbehavior by Kumar and assuring that the party would take appropriate action. Singh’s admission came after he visited Maliwal’s residence along with Vandana Singh, a member of the Delhi Women Commission. This visit took place amid growing concerns over Maliwal’s safety, as she has not yet issued any statement regarding the incident.

According to police reports, a PCR call was received at 9:34 AM on Monday from a woman claiming she had been assaulted at Kejriwal’s house. The woman later identified herself as Swati Maliwal. Although she went to the Civil Lines police station, she did not file a formal complaint.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticized Sanjay Singh’s delayed visit, suggesting it indicated an attempt by the AAP to pressure Maliwal into silence or alter her account of the events instead of promptly filing an FIR. The BJP’s protest focused on highlighting the safety concerns for Maliwal and demanding immediate action and transparency in the investigation.

The incident has sparked a significant political row, with Congress leader Alka Lamba also weighing in. Lamba, breaking her silence on the matter, urged Maliwal to come forward and file an FIR. She emphasized the importance of truth and justice, commending Singh’s admission but calling for further action.

“Many people have asked why I was silent. I was waiting for the truth to come out. Now senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh admitted that Swati Maliwal was assaulted inside Kejriwal’s residence. Swati Maliwal should come forward and file an FIR,” Lamba stated.

As the situation unfolds, the pressure mounts on both the Delhi government and the AAP to ensure a fair investigation and to address the concerns raised by political opponents and the public regarding the safety and justice for Swati Maliwal.
