In the midst of the continuous rumors about the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2, an official statement has arrived in the last few hours from the Kyoto company regarding the leaks coming from CES 2025 in Las Vegas, held from 7 to 10 January 2025 (to date).
The Japanese newspaper Sankei reported on its pages the comment of a company representative (translated via GoNintendo), who states that the dissemination of images and videos at the US tech fair was unofficial:
An accessory maker unveiled a model of the Nintendo Switch 2 at a U.S. electronics trade show, a home video game console that Nintendo plans to announce later this fiscal year. In response to the release of images and videos from the show, the company commented that the materials disclosed are not official.
The comment in question is in reference to the accessory manufacturer Genki, which at CES in Las Vegas showed a simple mockup of Switch 2 in addition to dedicated accessories. Although Nintendo has somehow denied these leaks disclosed by the fair, however, it cannot be ruled out that the representative model shown by Genki may correspond to the actual design of the new console.
In any case, the only certainty we have (thanks to the words of president Shuntaro Furukawa) is that Nintendo Switch 2 will be announced by the end of the current fiscal year, i.e. by the end of March 2025. Many insiders are certain that the announcement will come in January, we’ll see if this will really be the case.
