A Qatar Airways flight departing from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu en route to Doha was delayed for two and a half hours due to a technical issue. After being pushed back from the parking bay, routine safety checks revealed smoke coming from the aircraft’s auxiliary power unit (APU).
The flight, carrying 318 passengers, was originally scheduled to depart at 11:45 am. Airport officials confirmed that the issue was external and there was no danger to passengers, who remained onboard with the doors open for ventilation.
After a thorough inspection, the aircraft was declared technically sound and cleared for takeoff. Qatar Airways operates multiple daily flights on the Doha-Kathmandu-Doha route.
