The Department of Water and Meteorology has issued a warning for residents in the Terai region, advising them to be cautious as a loo, a scorching hot air wave, is expected to grip the area for the next few days.
Meteorologist Binu Maharjan predicts a rise in temperatures across the Terai, with Far-West and Lumbini provinces also likely to be affected. “There’s a chance of a loo heatwave hitting the Terai for several days,” said Maharjan. “We urge people to take necessary precautions to avoid the adverse effects of this extreme heat.”
This heatwave comes as Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi have already seen record highs this year, with temperatures reaching 44.2 degrees Celsius and 44.1 degrees Celsius respectively, according to Maharjan.
