Three young girls were critically injured by a lightning strike while on their way to school in Kailali on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred in Budeni, Ghodaghodi Municipality-9, according to District Police Office Chief Superintendent Padam Bahadur Bista. The injured girls were identified as 9-year-old Saraswati Bhul, 7-year-old Paru Kathat, and 10-year-old Khima Kathat.
“They were struck by lightning just as they reached the gate of Mohanyam Basic School Budeni,” Superintendent Bista reported.
While details of their condition are not available, it was reported that they sustained serious injuries and were initially taken to Ghodaghodi Hospital for treatment. Arrangements are currently underway to transfer them to Dhangadhi for further medical attention.
