Three girls in Dhanusa lost their lives in a drowning incident on Thursday afternoon. The victims, identified as Muskan Khatun, Jinat Khatun, and Ajmeri Khatun, were all between the ages of 10 and 12.
The incident occurred in a public pond located in Bauharwa, Dhanauji Rural Municipality-5. According to Dhanusha police spokesperson DSP Ranjan Awa, locals spotted the girls struggling in the water around 12:30 pm. They immediately rushed to their aid, pulled them from the pond, and transported them to Janakpur Provincial Hospital.
Sadly, despite the efforts of the locals, the girls succumbed to their injuries. Local reports suggest they may have drowned while bathing in the pond.
The bodies of the girls are currently at Janakpur Provincial Hospital awaiting post-mortem examination. The Dhanusa District Police Office is investigating the incident further.
