The Department of Meteorology has issued an update on the current weather conditions and forecast for today, June 24th, 2024.
Currently, skies are partly to mostly cloudy across most of Nepal, with some areas experiencing light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. These areas include parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Karnali, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
This afternoon, the weather pattern is expected to continue with partly to mostly cloudy skies throughout the country. There is a chance of further rain, with light to moderate showers with thunder and lightning possible in several regions. This includes Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with a few places in Madhesh, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces also potentially affected.
The department has issued a warning for the possibility of heavy rain in isolated locations within the hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Bagmati provinces. Residents in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions to avoid risks associated with landslides, flash floods, and debris flows (Gegran). Additionally, heavy rainfall may cause disruptions to daily life, impacting agriculture, health services, tourism, mountain climbing, road travel, and air transportation.
