Kathmandu, Nepal: A low-pressure system originating in South-West Bangladesh has begun affecting Nepal, bringing light to moderate rain to the eastern and central regions of the country. Meteorologists anticipate that the rainfall will be more widespread today compared to yesterday.
Tribhuvan University Associate Professor Dr. Binod Pokharel has indicated that there is a possibility of rain today and tomorrow, although the precipitation is not expected to be continuous. However, he warns that the rainfall could impact travel and transportation.
The Department of Water and Meteorology has issued a forecast predicting light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning in several provinces, including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki, and potentially heavy rain in some areas of Koshi.
The department has urged the public to take necessary precautions to avoid risks associated with potential calamities such as landslides, floods, and erosion. Heavy rains have already been reported in Dumkauli, East Nawalparasi, and other regions, prompting authorities to alert residents in affected areas.
The rainfall is expected to have implications for various sectors, including agriculture, health, tourism, mountain climbing, and transportation. The department’s forecast serves as a reminder for individuals and communities to be prepared and vigilant during this period of increased precipitation.
